The primary objective of this day is to promote awareness and understanding of wildlife conservation efforts. The United Nations General Assembly officially designated March 3rd as World Wildlife Day in 2013, commemorating the signing of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973.

In 2024, the thematic focus revolves around "Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation." This theme highlights the critical role of technology and digital innovation in enhancing conservation efforts and fostering a deeper connection between humanity and the natural world.

  • The Indian Navy is set to commission state-of-the-art MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, marking a significant milestone in its naval capabilities.

The Indian Navy is currently in the final stages of commissioning its inaugural squadron of MH-60R Seahawk multirole helicopters at the naval base in Kochi, Kerala. Regarded as a formidable force multiplier, the incorporation of these state-of-the-art naval choppers, sourced from the United States, is poised to make a substantial contribution to enhancing India's maritime military prowess.

  • India Post is actively endorsing the Rooftop Solar Scheme. -

Overview of the Rooftop Solar Subsidy Program: This initiative provides financial incentives from the central government to households that install small-scale solar power units, aiming to fulfil their electricity requirements and decrease reliance on the grid. Key features include:

  1. A subsidy of ₹30,000 per kW for systems with a capacity of up to 3 kW.
  2. Systems exceeding 3 kW receive a subsidy of ₹18,000 per kW.
  3. Consumers are required to register on the specified web portal to avail themselves of the benefits.
  4. After subsidy approval, the capacity can be installed using loans or personal funds.
  • The Supreme Court is aiming to provide incentives for high-performing judges to enhance their motivation and performance.

In March 2024, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud announced that the Supreme Court is working on establishing an objective framework to identify and acknowledge "super performer" trial court judges nationwide. The objective is to provide additional incentives to judges who effectively address substantial case backlogs amid a rising accumulation of legal matters.
